Reservations - Mahatma way or Bhagat Singh way

Read a nice article just now. (Here is the link)
http://randomnessredefined.blogspot.com/2006/05/anti-reservation-protests-we-are-still.html

Just wanted to extend my views on the same issue. Mayank, in his article has made a nice analogy. Really liked it. If the same students who are protesting against the reservations were to be asked who is their favourite freedom fighter, Gandhiji or Bhagat Singh, I guess the response would be heavily tilted towards Bhagat Singh. Bhagat Singh signifies youth. Gandhiji signifies patience. So when these students adopt Gandhiji's way of protest, it surprises me. Maybe that this is the right way.

The bigger question is that what kind of response does the government render to these protests. The government does not have any binding to respond to them. The government can simply kick them off and move on with the bill. But it is their moral responsibility to hold a discussion with the protestors. Mr Pranab Mukharjee calls for a huge press conference and says "We will ensure that concerns of EVERYBODY will be taken care of."

I know what the government will do. They will force the IITs and IIMs to increase their intake two-fold. And go ahead with their reservation policy. These doctors wont be debarred from their hospitals. Government knows that it can extend this issue to a later date. But the doctors cannot continue their strike for a long time. There would be a government "Representative" (not PM) who will say that they "acknowledge" the concerns of the doctors and on that basis they wont debar the doctors. So, in effect they will trade something with the doctors which they already have. Internship with a public hospital. The government will say that the doctors wont be debarred and in return, quota (and probably seats) would be increased.

Trifle Philosophy

This is going to be one outlet for the thoughts which I think of and forget after a while. I have my own views on politics, religion, faith, social issues, etc.

The name I have selected for flow of thoughts is Trifle Philosophy. Though my thoughts are have importance in my life, it may not have much significance in other's life. So Trifle. And though I am not keen on getting much philosophical in normal terms, I define philosophy as school of thoughts. That may not be exactly regarding human life, etc, but related to things that touch our lives.
